Paro - Thimphu

Morning: Bird-watching in Paro Valley (Brown dippers, Ibis Bill, Shrikes, Fantails)

Evening drive to Thimphu

Overnight: Hotel

Day 3

Thimphu - Tango/Cheri Valley

Watch Tango/Cheri Valley.Sun-birds, Wag tails, different varieties of dippers, thrush

Overnight: Hotel

Day 4

Thimphu: "Day excursion to Dochula Pass"

Drive to Dochula Pass (10,000 ft.)Tragopans, Monals and different varieties of pheasants

Overnight: Hotel in Thimphu

Day 5

Thimphu - Punakha Via Dochula (Bird-watching in the Dochula and Menchola area)

Bird-watching in the Dochula and Menchola area . Watch Wood-peckers, Tree creepers, varieties of doves

Evening drive to Punakha

Overnight: Hotel in Punakha

Day 6

Punakha -Tashithang Valley

Punakha – Tashithang Valley (about 1 hour drive) Camp.

King-fishers, fishing eagles, Hornbills

Tashithang - Wangdue - Pelela

Tashithang – Wangdue-Pelela (over night Hotel in Trongsa)

Nutcrackers, Warbblers, Fork-tails, Robins

Day 9

Trongsa - Kuengarabten

- Drive from Trongsa to Kuengarabten (22 Km)

- Breakfast enroute and do some bird-watching (Honey-guides)

- Proceed to Bumthang.

- One might see a variety of Fork-tails and Wall-creepers

Day 10

Jakar Valley (Bumthang)

Jakar Valley (Bumthang) Birding in Jakar in the morning and sightseeing in the afternoon.

Bumthang - Gayzamchu - Thumshingla

- Bumthang – Gayzamchu – Thumshingla (64 Kms).

- Camp at Gayzamchu highest camping site.

- Alt. about 3300 + m.Birding along the way for different varieties of Himalayan pheasants

Day 12

Gayzamchu - Sengor

Gayzamchu – Sengor (crossing Thumshingla pass. Alt. 3800 + m)

Near Sengor, one can see Yellow-bill Magpies, Fire-tail mizoros, jungle fowls.

Thrumshingla - Limithang

- Thrumshingla – Limithang . This is the best birding area in the Himalayas.

- A wide variety of sub-tropical to alpine birds can be found e.g. varities of hornbills, owls, night-jars etc.

- Camp- at (Yongkola) Lingmithang X 2 nights

Lingmithang

Day 15

Lingmithang - Mongar birding

Lingmithang – Monger birding. Mostly fowls, different varities of sparrows, wood-peckers are found.

Day 16

Monger - Trashigang Via Korela Pass

Monger – Trashigang through Korela Pass (about 2,800 m)

Shrikes, Wood-peckers, Sunbirds (different from those found in Western Bhutan)

Day 17

Tashigang - Excursion to Tashiyangtse area

Tashigang/Tashiyangtse area. Mostly Laughing Thrushes, different varities of thrush families and Drangos.

Trashigang - Samdrupjongkhar

After Breakfast, Drive to Samdrupjongkhar which is 190 Km.

Mostly Rufous necked hornbills, Yuhina, Quaills, sub-tropical birds.

Day 19

Samdrupjongkher - Day excursion to Riserboo

- Morning: Drive to Riserboo (2 - 3 hours)

- Afternoon:Drive back to Samdrupjongkher for more birding

Samdrupjongkhar - Gauhati

Samdrupjongkhar – Gauhati. On the way, can see crane family species
